I am the conservative candidate for the Georgia House of Representatives District 106. In 1999, with the support of the citizens of Snellville, I became the first new Mayor in a generation defeating a 26-year incumbent. I fulfilled my campaign promises cutting property taxes 5 years in a row, increasing police officers on the streets, eliminating an entire city department, and streamlining all operations resulting in a reduction to the cost of living in Snellville of 52% for the average homeowner. With the support of a united Council, we redeveloped an abandoned shopping center into our new City Hall and Senior Center, we expanded Snellville’s Recycling Center, and preserved over 100 acres of green space. At the end of my term, I chose not to seek re-election.

The local business community asked that I lead the Highway 78 (Evermore) Community Improvement District’s effort to partner with the Georgia Department of Transportation to remove the dangerous and confusing reversible lane and light system on U.S. 78. Over five years leading the CID, I delivered a 26:1 return on the taxpayer’s investment and advanced over $130 million in community improvements.

After seven years out of elected office, State Representative Melvin Everson called and asked that I consider offering for the District 106 seat as he is running to become Georgia’s next Labor Commissioner.

I am proud to have the full support of our current State Representative Melvin Everson for the Georgia House of Representatives District 106 seat that he currently holds.          Melvin endorsed me saying,

As mayor, Brett didn’t just sit around and talk about problems; he delivered. I saw it first hand. He cut taxes for five consecutive years, and reduced the overall burden of government by 52 percent. That’s the kind of leader we need in the state House.

I have posted my thoughts on a number of important state issues on this site. I especially want to hear your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions on how state government may become more efficient and less intrusive. I thank you for visiting the site today and I humbly ask for your support for my candidacy.
